Concept Photography
Project 1
Real and Unreal
I am interested in simplicity depicted by lines. Especially, lines that create human figures and reveal their inner sentiments. The figures and lines are integrated harmoniously into the photographs. As part of the material landscape in photography, the creative lines are revealed by shadows and drawings.
Project 2
Abstract Adjectives
I am interested in approaching abstractions and emotions through my camera lens. The impression created by photographs can be described with special adjectives. The adjectives are represented and interpreted by 26 photographs, using letters from A to Z. I seek to create an interplay between word and image for the purpose of tapping into the viewer’s emotions. Let’s delve into the experience. There is power in images to evoke words that capture human sentiment.
Project 3
Monochrome Seoul & Bakersfield
Walking through downtown Bakersfield, I found intriguing formal subject elements whose momentary essence I captured. These moments embodied my emotions in terms of my perspective of the world and what it means to me as a relative newcomer to this country. With my monochromatic pieces, I wanted to draw parallels to similar photos of the city of Seoul. These two meaningful places, Bakersfield and Seoul, are represented in monochrome photographs. Who would ever have imagined that two cities, so far apart geographically and culturally, could share such striking commonalities?
Emotionally, living in Bakersfield
What I see and feel and what I take
Walking downtown as a stranger
The significant moment is now
Just looking into my camera to see the world
That is my own creativity
Sentimentally
Beautifully
Anxiously
